It’s fair to say that 2020 has been an interesting year for everyone. There have been so many ways in which our daily lives have changed and so many people are suffering with their mental health. There have been many challenges, not least lockdown preventing us from seeing friends and family, leaving many people feeling very isolated and lonely.
With so much stress, pressure, and uncertainty, I’ve been thinking about the direction that Hugs should take. I will continue to share posts on social media to raise awareness of mental illness, but in addition will be sharing some more positive quotes and little things I use that help me to stay positive and avoid some of the pitfalls my own depression and anxiety try to trip me up with.
One of those things is making sure that each and every day, no matter how small it may be, I make a point of finding something that makes me happy, joyful, or thankful. It’s not always easy, particularly if I’m not having a good day, but I still try because it’s part of my self-care routine. I’m going to do my best to post my ‘happy’ thing daily on Instagram and give you a round up blog post on a Monday.
Self-care is something we should all do, regardless of our current mental health. We all need to build it into our daily routines. I’d love to hear some of the ways you look after your mental health, so please do get in touch by leaving a message in the comments section, because caring is sharing our own experiences and solutions.
I have a few other ideas which I’m exploring at the moment, but would love to hear from you with things you’d like to see, so be sure to let me know.
